District 219 presents financial aid night on Tuesday, September 28th at 6:30pm to 8:00pm.  This is open to seniors and families.  The presentation will cover:

  • Where to find the FAFSA
  • What is needed to complete the FAFSA
  • Types of financial aid for college
  • How to get help completing the FAFSA
  • Scholarships and other important aid resources

Niles West & Niles North Graduation Dates 2022

Dear District 219 Students, Staff, and Families,

The highlight of every school year is graduation. It presents us with the chance to recognize the achievements of our seniors and to highlight future plans as you embark on your early adventures as young adults. We recognize how important it is to each of you to mark the passage of this important milestone. It is also a perfect opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate with parents, friends, and extended family.

  • Niles North High School graduation will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at the Chuck Pos Stadium, located at Niles North High School 9800 Lawler Avenue, Skokie, IL.  The ceremony will begin at 12:00 pm.
  • Niles West High School graduation will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Basrak Field (football stadium), located at Niles West High School, 5701 Oakton, Skokie, IL. The ceremony will begin at 12:00 pm.

Physical Graduation Make-Up Date (Inclement Weather)

  • Niles North High School make-up date for graduation would be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, at the Chuck Pos Stadium, located at Niles North High School 9800 Lawler Avenue, Skokie, IL. The ceremony will begin at 12:00 pm.
  • Niles West High School make-up date for graduation would be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Basrak Field (football stadium), located at Niles West High School, 5701 Oakton, Skokie, IL. The ceremony will begin at 12:00 pm.

As we move closer to the event, we will update you, if necessary, on how COVID-19 may impact graduation logistics.

Save the Date: What Makes Us Happy, October 13th, 2021

Niles Township High School District 219 presents Dr. Laurie Santos, professor of psychology at Yale University and host of “The Happiness Lab” podcast. Dr. Santos will explain the true definition of wellness and provide simple steps for teenagers to live a happier life.  With support from the Glenbard Parent Series, this event is open to all our communities.

District 219 Board of Education Appoints Dr. Ignacio Lopez to Fill Board Vacancy

Skokie IL – The Niles Township High School District 219 Board of Education has announced the appointment of Dr. Ignacio Lopez to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Rebecca Abraham in July, 2021. Dr. Lopez will serve the remainder of Ms. R. Abraham’s term, which expires in April 2023.

 

“It’s an honor to have been appointed to the Niles District 219 Board of Education,” said Dr. Lopez. “As a Niles North graduate (Class of ‘97) and now parent of two students in the district, I know the high quality education experience our teachers and district provide. I look forward to serving with such a committed group of talented leaders who are dedicated to the success of all our students and community.”

Dr. Lopez was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Chicago and Skokie. Dr. Lopez is Dean of the Graduate School of Business at National Louis University in Chicago. He has been serving in the education profession for over 15 years. Dr. Lopez’s career in education includes positions as a high school English teacher, curriculum administrator, education professor, college dean and community college president. His leadership and research has focused on culturally responsive teaching and school community engagement. Dr. Lopez holds a Doctorate of Education degree in educational psychology and a Masters of Arts degree in teaching, both from National Louis University.  He has received several awards for his work, authored Keeping it Real and Relevant:  Building Authentic Relationships in Your Diverse Classrooms, and has served on several Boards, including the Board of Education for East Prairie School District 73 in Skokie, IL.

Recent World Events

Students, Parents & Guardians, Staff, and Community Members,

It is with heavy hearts that we have watched the world events of the past several days. First, we saw the country of Haiti experience a devastating 7.2 magnitude earthquake where thousands have lost their lives, are missing and displaced. Next, we have witnessed the events surrounding the people of Afghanistan who now find themselves in the midst of a government collapse and uncertain future.

We recognize that our district is a global one. Therefore, we want our students, our families, our staff, and our community members, who are connected to those in both Haiti and Afghanistan, to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time.

We also extend our gratitude to the brave First Responders and to those serving our country. We honor their sacrifice and that of their families.
