Danae Russell will be Niles North High School’s Assistant Athletic Director, effective July 1. The Niles Township High School District 219 Board of Education approved the appointment at its June 18 meeting.
Russell is currently the Athletic Director at Kenwood Academy in Chicago, a role she has served since 2014. In addition to overseeing the school’s athletic programs, she also worked with the alumni association and members of the community to grow support for the school’s programs. Russell also teaches Special Education at Kenwood, and has been doing so since 2012. In that role she designed and implemented curriculum and multi-sensory lesson plans for Geometry and Algebra.
Prior to Kenwood, Russell was a Special Education teacher and Assistant Athletic Director for two years at Perspectives Leadership Academy in Chicago.
Russell earned a Master of Arts degree in Sports Leadership and Management from Concordia University in Chicago, as well as a Master of Science degree in Special Education from Quincy University. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education Leadership from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, where she was a member of the basketball team.
